Why is BENZAC AC prescribed?
BENZAC AC gel is used to treat acne. It can be used alone or with
other treatments, including antibiotics and products that contain retinoic
acid, sulfur, or salicylic acid.
Most important fact about BENZAC AC
Significant clearing of the skin should occur after 2 to 3 weeks of
treatment with BENZAC AC. How should you use BENZAC AC without prescriptions/Rx?
Cleanse the affected area thoroughly before applying the medication.
BENZAC AC should then be gently rubbed in.

Apply it as soon as you remember. Then go back to your regular schedule.

BENZAC AC side effects
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity,
notify your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine
whether it is safe for you to continue using BENZAC AC.
* Side effects may include:
Allergic reaction (itching, rash in area where BENZAC AC was applied), excessive
drying (red and peeling skin and possible swelling)
Why should BENZAC AC not be prescribed?
Do not use BENZAC AC if you are sensitive to or allergic to benzoyl
peroxide or any other components of the drug.
Special warnings about BENZAC AC
BENZAC AC is for external use only. Avoid contact with your eyes,
nose, lips, or throat. If the drug does touch these areas accidentally,
rinse with water.
If you are sensitive to medications derived from benzoic acid (including
certain topical anesthetics) or to cinnamon, you may also be sensitive
to BENZAC AC.
If your skin becomes severely irritated, stop using the drug and call
your doctor.
BENZAC AC can bleach or discolor hair or colored fabric.
Stay out of the sun as much as possible, and use a sunscreen. Possible food and drug interactions when taking BENZAC AC
When used with sunscreens containing PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid),
BENZAC AC may cause temporary skin discoloration.
Special information if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
The effects of BENZAC AC during pregnancy have not been adequately
studied. It should be used only if clearly needed. If you are pregnant
or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. This medication
may appear in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. If BENZAC AC
is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to stop breastfeeding
until your treatment with BENZAC AC is finished.

ADULTS AND CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND OVER
Overdosage
Overdosage of BENZAC AC can result in excessive scaling of the skin,
reddening skin, or swelling due to fluid retention. Any medication
taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose,
seek medical attention.
